Mark is a Managing Director with Prelude Ventures, having joined the firm in 2013.  He serves on the board of directors for Arable Labs, Boston Metal, Citrine Informatics, Holo, Mori, Quaise, Renew Financial, Verdox, and Zapata Computing, is a board observer for Atom Computing, Fortify, polySpectra, Pivot Bio, Rumin8, and he actively manages the firm’s investments in Climax Foods, Heirloom, and Unspun.  His former investments include Benson Hill (NYSE: BHIL), CoverCress, GreenLight Biosciences (NASDAQ: GRNA), Planet Labs (NYSE: PL), and Zymergen (NASDAQ: ZY).

Prior to Prelude, Mark worked with the Celanese Corporation, a Fortune 500 company specializing in advanced materials and chemicals. Mark held a number of technical roles in new product development, application development, and process design, as well as commercial roles in technical marketing and business development. He also spent time with Terawatt Ventures, the solar investment team at Chevron Technology Ventures, and with sustainable chemistry start-up Novomer.

 

Mark received a BS and MS in Chemical & Bio-molecular Engineering from Georgia Tech, and an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business.  He has authored patents and publications in a wide variety of technologies focused on materials science in the fields of microelectronics, engineered polymers, advanced cements, barrier coatings, pharmaceutical delivery systems, and pulp & paper additives.
