Why we invested
Carbon removal will be necessary for us to reach our goal of mitigating the worst effects of climate change. The viable solutions will need to be low-cost, low-energy, and scalable. Heirloom’s technology, which dramatically enhances natural carbon sequestration systems, will be part of the future of carbon dioxide removal.
Why this work matters
By mid-century, we’ll need to remove billions of tons each year if we want to keep temperature rise below 1.5°C. We need to permanently remove CO2 from the atmosphere, and Heirloom's low-cost Direct Air Capture technology is one of the best solutions available to do this today.
