Julia joined Prelude Ventures as a Senior Associate in 2026.

Before Prelude, Julia spent nearly four years as CEO & Co-Founder of Baleena, a climate tech and fashion startup that built hardware for brands to track, reduce, and manage material deterioration across their supply chains. The experience left her with an intuition for the messy, nonlinear reality of building something from scratch, and a deep desire to put that lived experience to work for the founders she partners with. Julia previously worked as a summer associate at Strategy& (part of the PwC network) and in business development and customer research at an early-stage healthtech startup. She began her career in the insulating materials lab at Doble Engineering.

Julia holds a B.S.E. in Materials Science & Engineering with a minor in Engineering Entrepreneurship from the University of Pennsylvania. She continues to champion nontraditional and female founders, staying actively involved as a 776 Foundation Fellow, an advisor to the Widjaja Entrepreneurship Fellows Program, and an occasional guest lecturer back at Penn Engineering and Wharton.

A born-and-raised East Coaster, Julia relocated to San Francisco to join the Prelude team and has been making up for lost time outdoors. When she's not at work, you can find her bouldering, hiking, relearning how to surf, and working through an ever-growing SF bucket list.
