Copper
Copper uses embedded batteries to build the highest performance electric appliances, turning each one into an energy asset to support the clean grid
Why we invested
Not only is Copper’s induction stove thoughtfully designed and meticulously engineered to be safe and easy to use, it has also earned the approval of culinary experts like Samin Nosrat and trusted reviewers like Wirecutter. Copper’s ambitions extend far beyond just replacing every gas stove with an induction stove. As they scale, their technology will enable the electrification and decarbonization of the entire home while also providing resiliency and benefits for the grid.
Why this work matters
Today, decarbonizing the built environment is held back by aging infrastructure and a strained grid. Copper solves this with battery-equipped appliances, which require no electrical work to install, perform better than the competition, and operate together as a virtual power plant. By treating every appliance as a point of interconnection, we reduce the costs of the battery storage we require for the transition to clean energy.
