Food waste and food resiliency are massive problems and are challenging to tackle due to the fragmented and distributed nature of the problem. We need a way to make food last longer that is not plastic. Mori has created a highly versatile, nature-based coating that extends the life of food, unlocking significant value for their customers and the consumer.

Why this work matters

Making a more resilient food system will alleviate the negative climate impact of food and packaging waste while improving access and equitability. This can all be accomplished using a natural protein from silk to extend shelf life.
